The Periodic Table Game
The periodic table game is a fun, interactive way to learn the periodic table!
How to Play
When the game's not running you can explore the periodic table - all the tiles are visible and you can hover over them to get more info about each element. There is a link in each tooltip to visit the element's page on Wikipedia
Start Game
Click the Start ( > ) button to start the timer. The tooltips will disappear and you'll get a randomly selected element in a red tile. Guess the element name by typing it into the input box. If you guess the highlighted element you'll get 2 points. If you accidentally select another element along the way, it'll also be revealed on the board and you'll get one point.
See if you can clear the board with no errors for a possible high score of 236 points! Play the Game!
Skip Element
If you don't know a red tiled element you can skip it by clicking the skip button ( >| ). A notification will come up with the element name so you know it for next time. Don't worry, it'll come around again! Play the Game!
Practice Mode
If you are only just starting out and you really don't know any of the elements yet, you can play in practice mode.
Just click on the settings ( ⚙ ) icon in the gold coloured game panel and switch the mode over to practice. Then you will be able to hover (or click on mobile) over each element and get the name and other info about the element. There is also a link to Wikipedia for each element if you want to explore more about it. Play the Game!
Spelling
While I'm not a fan of pedantic spelling rules, it's worth knowing that this is in British English, cos I'm an Aussie. If you are banging your head on the wall trying to get the very last element of Aluminum and it's just not working, that's because you and I don't spell it the same way. Put in Aluminium and you'll get across the line! Play the Game!
